The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has expanded its fiscal 2027 examination agenda to cover advanced AI systems and tokenisation. According to 디지털투데이, the move reflects growing attention to how emerging technologies affect financial markets, regulatory compliance and investor safeguards.

The SEC’s Division of Examinations will assess how AI applications used by regulated firms influence internal compliance controls and fraud detection. This represents a broader focus than simply examining AI as a productivity tool for investment advisers.

Tokenisation has also become a distinct examination priority within market infrastructure. Firms including broker-dealers, investment advisers and transfer agents offering tokenised products could face closer reviews of their operating procedures, compliance frameworks and investor protection measures.

The programme applies to more than 34,000 entities supervised by the division. Examiners retain discretion to investigate additional matters involving compliance with federal securities laws.

The 2027 agenda does not reinstate cryptocurrency as a separate examination category. Instead, the SEC is directing attention toward technology-related risks affecting market operations and infrastructure, following the removal of cryptocurrency as a standalone priority in its fiscal 2026 agenda.
