Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says the company is reorganizing its business around AI agents, infrastructure and consumer devices. According to Yahoo Finance, his annual letter describes a strategy focused on systems that carry out tasks for users while allowing human oversight when necessary.
Microsoft provides access to more than 11,000 AI models, including offerings from OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral and its own MAI family. Nadella highlighted an architecture that separates the model from the surrounding context, memory and action tools, allowing businesses to select models based on their needs and costs.
Microsoft 365 Copilot is evolving beyond interactive chat toward agents capable of handling extended tasks. Nadella said the service has exceeded 30 million paid seats. The company is also developing Agent 365 to help organizations oversee and manage their AI agents.
On infrastructure, Nadella said Microsoft's Maia 300 chip delivers 40% more tokens per watt than leading GPU-based systems. The company plans to expand its use of internally developed silicon while continuing to support Nvidia and Intel processors.
Nadella also expects more AI processing to take place directly on PCs rather than exclusively in the cloud. He pointed to Microsoft's base of over 1.6 billion monthly active Windows devices as a potential platform for wider adoption, amid the Trump administration's push to use the term 'Super Intelligence' in place of 'Artificial Intelligence' in federal communications.
