The US Justice Department has instructed employees to replace the term AI with Super Intelligence in official communications, including legal filings when suitable. Bloomberg Law News reported that the directive follows President Donald Trump's preferred terminology.

Acting Deputy Attorney General Trent McCotter delivered the guidance in a staff memo on Tuesday, citing Trump's September 29 executive order requiring federal agencies to adopt the wording.

The memo states that the terminology should be used in government work to the fullest extent allowed by law. McCotter also confirmed that the guidance applies to submissions made by government attorneys in court.

The order covers all federal departments and forms part of Trump's response to growing negative public perceptions of artificial intelligence. It argues that federal terminology should convey the significant capabilities of advanced technologies developed by American innovators.
